Personalized Clocks
Making personalized clocks – anyone can do
it!
Making your own clock might seem like a complicated, intimidating process.
However, there's not really all that much to it.
At its most basic, a clock consists of a mechanism, a face, and a case to hold them.
All of these parts can be purchased at the craft store for just a few dollars.
Almost anyone can put together their own great clock without a lot of trouble.
These kinds of clocks are great for your home, kids' rooms, your cubicle or office at work, and also make nice gifts.
If you'd like to make your own clocks, here's some basics.
To get started, you'll need to buy a clock mechanism.
These are generally pretty small and can be found at most major craft stores.
You'll also need a clock face.
Blank ones can sometimes be purchased, or you can just make your own.
A clock face is usually a sheet of cardboard, but can also be plastic or metal.
You can draw on the face, paint it, use a home printer to put an image on it (if it's paper), decoupage, or use lots of other techniques.
Popular personalized clocks faces themes include photos, backwards numbers, names, and themes.
If you're giving this clock as a gift, think about what the person receiving it likes. Images of their kids, or their favorite animal, are a
good place to start.
You'll also need a holder to contain the clock face and mechanism.
These can be pretty simple, and can even be scavenged from old clocks.
To protect your clock, look for a clock case that has a clear cover to protect your clock face.
Glass and plastic covers are available, depending on which you prefer.
Plastic is less expensive, and lighter, but it scratches more easily.
No matter why you'd like to make your own personalized clock, it's easier than you'd think. Anyone can make one, as long as they have the materials. You could soon be
giving unique clocks as gifts, or even using them as the basis for a business!
